2028 Comprehensive Plan Committee

2028 Comprehensive Plan Committee
Help Shape the Future of North Yarmouth
The Town of North Yarmouth is seeking volunteers to serve on the Comprehensive Plan Committee, a group of community members who will guide the development of the Town’s next Comprehensive Plan. Committee members will play a central role in shaping the long-term vision, policies, and priorities that will guide North Yarmouth’s growth, land use, and municipal decision-making over the next 10–12 years. Members are expected to actively participate in a collaborative, community-driven planning process and help ensure the Comprehensive Plan reflects a broad range of perspectives while maintaining consistency with State requirements.

Why This Matters?

North Yarmouth has a long tradition of thoughtful planning, grounded in preserving our rural character, protecting natural resources, and managing growth responsibly.
As our community evolves, we face important questions:

  • How do we balance growth with preservation?
  • How can we meet housing needs while maintaining community character?
  • How do we plan for the future of our roads, services, and infrastructure?
  • How do we respond to changing state policies and environmental challenges?
The Comprehensive Plan is an opportunity for the community to come together and answer these questions—thoughtfully and collaboratively.
Committee members will:

  • Help lead a community-driven planning process
  • Gather input from residents and stakeholders
  • Review data and trends about the town
  • Develop goals and strategies for the future
  • Contribute to a final Comprehensive Plan to be presented to voters
Who Should Apply?

We are looking for a diverse group of residents who care about North Yarmouth’s future. You do not need to be an expert in planning. We welcome:
  • Long-time and newer residents
  • People with different perspectives and experiences
  • Individuals with experience or interests in housing, agriculture, conservation, business, or community life
Most important is a willingness to:

  • Listen and collaborate
  • Think about the long-term future of the town
  • Represent the broader community
Time Commitment

  • Timeline: Summer 2026 through Spring 2028
  • Meetings: 1–2 times per month (typically evenings)
  • Additional opportunities to support community outreach and events

Apply using the online Volunteer Application or download the PDF version below and email to [email protected] or fax to 207-829-3743 or mail to Town of North Yarmouth, 10 Village Square RD, North Yarmouth, ME 04097.

Help us plan for the future while honoring what makes North Yarmouth special.

Join Us for the 5th Annual TeeOff4TMF Charity Golf Tournament

Join us on Monday, July 20, 2026 at The Woodlands Club in Falmouth, Maine, for an unforgettable day of golf, community, and purpose.

Hosted by Julie & Bryce Davis | The Davis Team, TeeOff4TMF brings together golfers, business leaders, veterans, and supporters to benefit the Travis Mills Foundation and its life-changing work for recalibrated veterans and their families.

Guests will enjoy a premier golf experience featuring an 18-hole four-person scramble, championship course conditions, lunch at the turn, a reception banquet, and a fun lineup of on-course experiences and challenges throughout the day. We’re also excited to welcome BackSwing Golf Events back to the tournament, whose women professional golfers are known for bringing popular fundraising activations like Beat the Pro to charity events nationwide.

Jay Fulton's Chess Club
Marking Jay’s Final Day at Chess Club

Monday, May 26, 4–5 p.m.

Prince Room

Drop‑in, all welcome

For nearly four years, Jay Fulton has been the steady, patient presence at our chess tables—arriving early, welcoming every player, and turning each move into a chance to learn. Week after week, he’s helped kids find confidence, strategy, and community. And over that time, he’s guided players through well over 2,000 games.

But the numbers only hint at what Jay brings to the room. Families know him as someone who shows up fully, teaches with kindness, and stays until the last board is cleared. He has been a gift to our young players and to PML.

After four years of teaching openings, endgames, and everything in between, Jay is playing his final Chess Club session at PML. If your child has ever sat across from him—or if you simply want to wish him well—please stop by. No registration, no chess skills required.

Want to help us give Jay a proper send‑off? We’re accepting donations in his honor. Every contribution goes toward a special tribute in the kids’ room.
