Code Enforcement Office

The town office will be opening on June 1, however the Code Enforcement Office will only be open to the public by APPOINTMENTS ONLY.  Please call 829-3705 Option 1 to schedule appointments or inspections.  All in person meetings with the Code Enforcement Officer will be held in the Meeting Room or on the job site.

COVID-19 Reopening & Prevention Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

For your convenience, we have updated our online forms to make it easier to complete.  Please follow the instructions below on how to submit your permits and payments:

  1. Go to the Permits and Applications page on our website and complete the permit information.
  2. Submit permits by one of the following methods:
    • Email the permit and necessary documentation to Tracey Cox
    • Drop the permit and necessary documentation off at the Town’s Drop Box located at the main entrance (10 Village Square Rd)
    • Mail the permit and necessary documentation to:

  3. We will review permits and contact you with the total fee and the permit number
  4. Here are the ways permits can be paid once you have been notified of the permit total:
    • Drop the check in the Drop Box located at the main entrance of the town office
      (please include the permit number you are given on the check)
    • Mail a check to the address listed above.  (please include the permit number you are given on the check)
    • Call the office and pay over the phone with a credit card (please note there is a 2.5% convenience fee added to all credit card transactions)

The Code Enforcement Officer (CEO) is responsible for many jobs in town:

  •  issues all plumbing, electrical and building permits. 
  • performs inspections after construction or installation to insure the health and safety of the public.
  •  interprets and enforces local and state laws, codes and ordinances.
  •  assigns addresses in compliance with E911 Guidelines and assists the Fire Chief in issuing burning and blasting permits.
  •  works with the Planning Board and other professionals to  review site plans, subdivision applications and ordinance changes.
