The best way to reduce waste management costs is to recycle. The current cost (FY26) for processing household waste is $107.50 per ton and $85.00 per ton for recycling.
North Yarmouth has a “Pay As You Throw” (PAYT) waste disposal fee structure. Orange bags are required for trash disposal. Recycling should be placed directly into the new recycling carts and not in a bag. Everything must be placed in the cart for collection. Additional bags, bins, or broken-down boxes sitting next to the carts cannot be collected. If you have additional items to dispose of you may hold them until your next collection day or bring them Freeport Recycling/ Transfer Facility or Riverside Recycling Facility.

Place carts curbside by 7 am on the day of collection, but no earlier than 7 pm the day before.
