Molly B. Gilligan

running for Select Board for a Term ending June 30, 2027
I’ve been a resident of North Yarmouth since 2013. I live here with my husband and three children. I love North Yarmouth and I want to be of service to this community, which is why I am running for Select Board.

My experience working in the Maine and Connecticut Legislatures and my years of legal practice reading and interpreting regulations have shown me the challenges of governing. It has also taught me to listen to all sides, gather the facts, and to make the best decision possible based on the available information.  I plan to work hard for the town to find solutions to the challenges we face.  I believe in fiscal prudence and leaving things better than you found them.

When we first moved to North Yarmouth, my husband and I lived in the town center and enjoyed walking to restaurants and community events and exploring Skyline Farm and Knights Pond with our kids. Now, we live a bit further out of town and enjoy the glorious sunsets, ice skating on the Royal River and abundant wildlife.

There have been many changes in town in recent years and I hear the concerns about balancing growth with rising costs. I believe that there is no one-size fits all solution and that good governance is challenging. It requires seeking common ground and the difficult work of creating dialogue between multiple parties. I am well prepared with skills I’ve honed as a partner, a parent, and a professional.

Now, more than ever, I believe community is critical. While we may have our differences, we have all made the wise decision to live in North Yarmouth. That simple fact unites us all.  I look forward to building community, enhancing resilience and representing all the residents of North Yarmouth.

Best,
Molly Gilligan
