Boston Post Cane Presented to Marion Goff at the young age of 96!

 

Continuing a tradition starting in 1909, when the Boston Post forwarded to the Board of Selectmen of 431 towns in New England, a gold-headed ebony cane, to be held, in honor, by the oldest citizen of the community.

Marion has live in North Yarmouth since the early 1950s raising her 3 children here with her husband Vernon Goff Sr.

Join your neighbors and friends for a safe, socially distanced  outdoor market  and yard sale.  We are providing  space for families, civic and fundraising groups, local farms and independent artisans to come and sell their items!

Lunch items  available  for purchase provided by Frenchmen’s BBQ!  All CDC protocols will be in place . Please wear a mask and practice safe  6 ft. social distancing.

They are Back!

kite in your sight - please slow down

This is an effort to make the center of town safer for all concerned – those who travel these roads, but also patronize the business that are located there . Speed limits are designed for the safety of, not only the motorist, but pedestrian as well. You will see kites posted on the roads coming into the center alerting motorist to the change in speed limit. Slowing down to the posted speed limit or below “Traffic Calming” is the goal.


2020 election

ABSENTEE BALLOT REQUESTS FOR THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

There are several ways to request an absentee ballot for the November 3, 2020 election.

  1. Use the online request service.
  2. The voter can call the Town Office (829-3705)  to do a telephone request and the ballot will be mailed to them.
  3. Come into the office to complete an application.
  4.  Download an application, complete, sign and mail to our office.
  5. After October 4th you can come into the Town Office complete an application and take the ballot with you
  6. After October 4th you can come into the Town Office and vote in the  presence of the clerk. 
  7. An immediate family member may also complete an application and pick up the ballot for you.

Options to return the ballot (to be counted all ballots must be received by 8pm on election day).

  1. Mail it back to our office (please allowed enough time for the mail service).
  2. Voters may also use UPS or FEDEX to mail the ballots back at their expsense.
  3. Use the drop box at the Town Office.
  4. Hand deliver to the clerks in the Town Office.

Please Note that the Absentee Ballots are not available until Monday, October 5th. All ballots requested recieved prior to this date will be mailed out that week.

Not in the recycling. Not in the trash. Even empty cans can have vapors that can start fires on trucks or in our plants.
Plastic, metal - it doesn't matter... Please dispose responsibly.

SAFE PASSAGE

20 YEARS

Join us September 9th—27th, 2020 for a Virtual 5K!

Safe Passage is celebrating its 20th year with a goal of raising $20,000!

You can run or walk anywhere, anytime between 9/18-9/27.

Funds will support 40 students in two Middle School Classrooms.

Safe Passage was founded 20 years ago in Guatemala by Yarmouth, ME resident, Hanley Denning.

Now in 2020, Safe Passage serves over 500 students from 300 families.

Its mission continues to provide hope, education and opportunity by breaking the cycle of poverty

and providing an excellent education of the whole child focused on wellness, lifelong learning,

For your mind: Settle your awareness on nature's soothing atmosphere.

For your spirit: Venture into the woods to gain inspiration from the living earth, taking in the forest atmosphere through all of our senses.

Terri Young, a  certified Kripalu Mindful Outdoor Guide, offers powerful nature-based experiences combining forest bathing, meditation and practical outdoor skills for folks 12 years and older.  With the average American spending 11 hours a day on a screen and 90% of their lives indoors, now is the time to step outside and feel the difference!

  • Where: Skyline Farm Forest, North Yarmouth
  • When: The 2nd Saturday of each month, May through October, 9:00 - 10:30 am.
  • We will meet at 9:00 am in the Skyline Farm parking lot at The Lane, North Yarmouth.
  • This experience is 1½  hours. One should be able to walk slowly 1 mile in varying terrain.
  • Bring appropriate outdoor clothing, sturdy shoes and water bottles. Leave cell phones at home or in the car. No dogs.
  • Cost: Suggested donation of $10 per person.  Proceeds will be donated to Skyline Farm and organizations that support the local community.

GREELY FIELD HOCKEY

The Greely Field Hockey Boosters is holding its annual mum sale now through September 7th! Due to COVID-19, the sale will be different this year. Please visit our dedicated Estabrooks page to purchase vouchers for mums.

Your voucher(s) can be redeemed in-store at Estabrook's in Yarmouth (337 East Main Street) or Kennebunk (97 York Street) from September 8, 2020 to September 18, 2020. Colors include lavender/pink, white, maroon/red, bronze/orange and white (subject to availability). We recommend you visit early in the redemption period for the best selection. Mums may be showing color or in bud at time of redemption. If you prefer to donate to Greely Field Hockey, the site also offers that option. Thank you for supporting Greely Field Hockey!
