cumberland county mitigation

North Yarmouth Residents, We are asking for your help. We have all been effected by natural disasters over the last few years. This includes: wind storms, major snow storms, power outages, floods, etc.

As CCEMA completes the Cumberland County Hazard Mitigation Plan’s five-year update, we are asking for your input. Residents of Cumberland County know the local hazards best, so we'd like to hear from you! We've developed a brief survey for residents, business owners, and community partners to share what concerns them the most about potential disasters. The survey can be found at http://cumberlandcounty.org/hazardmitigation

Please consider taking a few moments to respond to this survey before it closes on June 30th. Answers will help the Planning Committee prioritize the community’s concerns and questions about the Hazard Mitigation Plan, guide discussions during the revision process, and direct future outreach and education programs.

Our Recreation Department has worked hard these past few months to come out with a revised Summer Brochure! Registration opens on Wednesday, May 27th at 8am.

SUMMER CAMP 2020

2020 SUMMER RECREATION

As of Wednesday, May 20th we have developed the camp format based on the best information we currently have from the governor’s office. With this in mind, camp will have a significantly different look for 2020. We are currently working on developing appropriate protocols for each camp which utilizes operating guidelines from the state. This will include designing and implementing a best practices approach including parent sign in/out procedures as well as distancing measures and other proper strategies. Camp will be small group ratios with no more than 20 assigned to a specific double sized classroom space.

In the big picture, we are going back to the basics. Each group will rotate through multiple activity sessions including games, crafts, nature, special events, non-contact sports/field games and much more.
We will be taking each session on a week to week basis and will be communicating via an electronic newsletter to outline the specific week’s schedule of activities. We are hopeful to be able to take trips to local locations such as Twin Brook, Broad Cove, Knights Pond, Cousins Island Beach and possibly additional local attractions.

There is no doubt that the look of day camp for the summer of 2020 will be much different from years past. From field trips to daily protocols including no longer having large groups together, we will be operating with a new set of rules, guidelines & expectations. After meeting with our Rec Leadership team, I have no doubt they are up to the task and excited for the new challenges while continuing to deliver a high quality experience for children of our community.
Pete Bingham, Director
