we want to hear from you

With Maine voting to legalize recreational and medicinal marijuana, we are seeking to take a proactive approach to create North Yarmouth guidelines for marijuana businesses.

We, as the Economic Development & Sustainability Committee (EDSC), are administering this survey to get an initial pulse on our community’s position.

Thank you for participating in this survey and helping us get a better picture of what our residents think is best for our community.

If you would like a printed copy of the survey mailed to you please contact Draven at (207)829-3705 ext 208 (option 4) or email dwalker@northyarmouth.org

thank you for your patience and unerstanding

The Town Office has been closed to public access since Tuesday, March 17th.  We have limited staff hours to one day per week in the office, and several of us are working remotely during this pandemic. It can be challenging when you don’t have all of the information and data at your fingers tips, but we are tackling it as we go.   We are doing our best to respond to the numerous telephone calls, dropbox items, and emails during this time.

Unfortunately, services at the Town Office remain suspended until further notice.  If you have questions, please contact the appropriate department from the list below.  When you visit their page, click on the recipient's name, and submit the "Contact" form. It will be emailed directly to that employee.

We appreciate your patience and understanding, thank you.

trash talk

Curbside pickup for household trash and recycling continues as normal. There have been no changes to the pickup schedule or the pickup criteria.

  1. Residents MUST have their household trash and recycling at the curb by 7am on the day of scheduled pickup.  Please don't assume that Casella trucks will always be going down your road at the same time every week.  There are factors that can change their arrival time on your road. Examples are the number of trucks on the route on that day (more or less),  mechanical issues with their fleet and weather all have an effect on the haul trucks arrival time.
  2. Trash must be placed in official, orange,Town Pay-as-you-throw (PAYT) bags or it will not be collected.  Available for purchase at Hannafords, Shaws and the Town Office (although the office is currently closed to the public, you are welcome to call the Town Office (207-829-3705) and arrange a time to pay for and pickup PAYT bags.
  3. Bags and receptacles must be placed no further than 6 to 8 feet from the roadside.

2020 spring turkey hunting season

Between April 25th and June 6th, Maine's Spring Wild Turkey hunting season will be active.

During the hunting season, we recommend that anyone who is walking in the woods and parks strongly consider wearing blaze orange to help readily identify you when you are in the woods. Outfitting your dog with a blaze orange vest is also an excellent idea. Please be aware that hunters may utilize a variety of turkey calls to try and lure a wild turkey to their location. It is never advisable to go toward the sound of a turkey call to investigate. Be safe when you are out enjoying our town parks!

A Note from Maine Department of Transportation

remove studded tires
Don’t forget: you only have a couple more weeks to take your studded snow tires off your vehicles. The deadline is still May 1st because they do damage to our roads. Also, auto shops are essential services, so they remain open.
