burning permits

BURN PERMITS

Effective April 1, 2023 North Yarmouth Fire Rescue will only be issuing burn permits through the State of Maine's online Burn Permits system.

You must wait until 09:00am each day to obtain a permit. This is due to the system predicting the class day for each day.

You may also obtain a permit after 09:00am everyday at North Yarmouth Fire Rescue or at Town Office after 09:00am during normal days open.

Permits are valid for only one day only between the hours of 9:00AM to 11:00 PM on the day you are issued the permit.

Before you are issued the permit, you must acknowledge the conditions of the permit and the allowed burn times for the day.

When the permit is issued, the allowed burn times are stated on the permit and the printed copy.

Recycling & Waste Reduction
paktech recycling
PakTech Recycling: Not In Your Recycling Bin, But at the Store!

Did you know PakTech handles (AKA craft beer carriers) CAN’T be put in your recycling bin?
EcoMaine can't recycle them but Allagash Brewery Does.

Thanks to a collaboration the North Yarmouth Waste Reduction Committee and North Yarmouth Variety
you can save the trip to Portland and recycle your PakTech handles in town.
Find the PakTech Recycling Bin under the awning at North Yarmouth Variety.

metal items
ecomaine
If you have small pieces of metal - screws, nails, and other hardware, for example -
they can really only be recycled by taking them to a scrap metal recycling bin at a transfer station.
They're too small to be recovered at a single-sort recycling facility like ecomaine's.

(Better yet, reuse them by donating them to ReStore (Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland) or another similar place!)

For more #recycling tips, visit the ecomaine RECYCLOPEDIA at ecomaine.org/101

community bingo
We're pretty excited about this one!

It's inspired by some pretty fun family vacations when families and folks of every age would gather for a few friendly rounds of bingo.

The prizes, back then, were a hodge-podge mix of various items, like pies and plates of homemade cookies.

Our prizes include games, puzzles and, of course, books. No cash prizes.

(If you want to add a pie, a garden basket, a plate of cookies, or some other small treasure to the prize table, we wouldn't stop you. Absolutely no obligation).

We hope you'll stop by for a few rounds of bingo.

Free! Mondays, July 10, 17 and 24 at 6:30 p.m.

at Wescustogo Hall & Community Center in North Yarmouth, Maine
