Pratt and Sons, Inc. Has begun safety improvements project (PACTS) on Walnut Hill Road (route 115) and Cumberland Road.
The scope of the project consists of upgrading the intersection of Cumberland Road and Pea Lane to meet ADA standards, as well as drainage improvements and reconfiguration of the intersection of Cumberland RD and Walnut Hill RD.
That segment of work will include providing 650 linear feet of new sidewalk and 800 linear feet of buried drainage with about 8 catch basins.

BURN PERMITS
Effective April 1, 2023 North Yarmouth Fire Rescue will only be issuing burn permits through the State of Maine's online Burn Permits system. You must wait until 09:00am each day to obtain a permit. This is due to the system predicting the class day for each day. You may also obtain a permit after 09:00am everyday at North Yarmouth Fire Rescue or at Town Office after 09:00am during normal days open.
Permits are valid for only one day only between the hours of 9:00AM to 11:00 PM on the day you are issued the permit. Before you are issued the permit, you must acknowledge the conditions of the permit and the allowed burn times for the day. When the permit is issued, the allowed burn times are stated on the permit and the printed copy. | |

PakTech Recycling: Not In Your Recycling Bin, But at the Store!
Did you know PakTech handles (AKA craft beer carriers) CAN’T be put in your recycling bin? EcoMaine can't recycle them but Allagash Brewery Does. Thanks to a collaboration the North Yarmouth Waste Reduction Committee and North Yarmouth Variety you can save the trip to Portland and recycle your PakTech handles in town. Find the PakTech Recycling Bin under the awning at North Yarmouth Variety.

Rechargeable batteries can start fires, destroy recycling/waste facilities, and injure/kill workers. PLEASE dispose of them properly by checking www.Call2Recycle.org for your nearest drop-off location. There are lots of them, and it could save a life! | |

Traffic Alert for Main Street - Cumberland
Work will begin in July, on safety improvements for Main Street (route 9) in Cumberland. These plans include pedestrian crosswalks being updated, safety lights, and paving. Please check back for more updates and specific timing, as this will likely impact traffic. Current Projects are listed on the Cumberland Public Works web page. | |
