 | Part-Time Community Center Support Staff The Town of North Yarmouth is seeking an organized, motivated, and team focused individual for the part-time position of Community Center Support Staff at Wescustogo Hall & Community Center. This position will assist with all programs, building security, cleaning, and assist the Community Center Director & Assistant Director on day-to-day operations. This position requires the flexibility to work a varied schedule that includes nights and weekends. |

 | LD 290 Property Tax Stabilization for Seniors Repealed by State LegislatureLD 130 Property Tax Deferral Program and Property Tax Fairness Credit Expanded
LD 290, The “Property Tax Stabilization for Senior Citizens” program, enacted in August 2022, was repealed by the Maine Legislature on July 6, 2023, with an effective date of October 11, 2023. This popular program allowed Maine seniors 65 and older, who owned a permanent residence for at least 10 years and were receiving (or eligible for) a homestead exemption, to freeze taxes at the previous year’s level regardless of income. Many seniors were expecting to reapply beginning in August, the repeal of this program means there will be no reapplication process for the upcoming year. Although the program has been repealed, the first-year applications will still be administered. Any currently enrolled senior will not see an increase in their property taxes on their 2023 tax bill, with payments due in September 2023 and March 2024. Please note that this was a State of Maine Program and while the Town of North Yarmouth played a role in its administration, we had no part in its creation or repeal.  | BURN PERMITS
Effective April 1, 2023 North Yarmouth Fire Rescue will only be issuing burn permits through the State of Maine's online Burn Permits system. You must wait until 09:00am each day to obtain a permit. This is due to the system predicting the class day for each day. You may also obtain a permit after 09:00am everyday at North Yarmouth Fire Rescue or at Town Office after 09:00am during normal days open.
Permits are valid for only one day only between the hours of 9:00AM to 11:00 PM on the day you are issued the permit. Before you are issued the permit, you must acknowledge the conditions of the permit and the allowed burn times for the day. When the permit is issued, the allowed burn times are stated on the permit and the printed copy. |

Did you know PakTech handles (AKA craft beer carriers) CAN’T be put in your recycling bin? EcoMaine can't recycle them but Allagash Brewery Does. Thanks to a collaboration the North Yarmouth Waste Reduction Committee and North Yarmouth Variety you can save the trip to Portland and recycle your PakTech handles in town. Find the PakTech Recycling Bin under the awning at North Yarmouth Variety.

 |  Rechargeable batteries can start fires, destroy recycling/waste facilities, and injure/kill workers. PLEASE dispose of them properly by checking www.Call2Recycle.org for your nearest drop-off location. There are lots of them, and it could save a life! |
