Skyline Farm Carriage Museum’s current exhibit "The Evolution of Comfort” tracks the developing technology and style from early vehicles, such as its Comfort “Waggon” dating back to the late 1700’s when George Washington was President, through to the end of the horse-drawn carriage era when automobiles came on the scene and Teddy Roosevelt was our 26th President. By Roosevelt’s time, carriages offered leaf springs, inflatable tires, and plush seats, all features that carry over to today so we can ride… in Comfort. The museum, located at 95 The Lane, North Yarmouth, is open for public viewing on Sundays, through April 2, 1-4 p.m. or by appointment. Free admission; donations are appreciated. Dress warmly. For more information, email info@skylinefarm.org. Skyline Farm is a nonprofit, all-volunteer organization. Saturday, March 11 at 10 a.m. In-person at Prince Memorial Library For curious adults and families. No registration required. Offered in partnership with Chebeague and Cumberland Land Trust Every spring, conditions come together to form one of the most eruptive wildlife migrations in the world – right in our backyards. The warm, rainy nights of spring bring frogs and salamanders out in droves, creating what is referred to as “big nights”. However, many of these migrants face trouble as they meet one of the newest habitats on the landscape — roads. This talk will introduce the community science project Maine Big Night, a project that anyone can participate in to collect data and help migrating amphibians in roadways. Amphibian natural history, results from previous years, and compelling stories will also be included. Greg LeClair is a Ph.D. candidate at UMaine, where he studies ecology and environmental science. He started the Maine Big Night: Amphibian Migration Monitoring project in 2018. |
