Casella Waste Truck

When Casella Waste Systems notifies the Town Office of a delay or change in their pickup schedule a notice is posted on the Town website, social media sites (Facebook, Instagram & Twitter), and Spectrum Cable Channel 1301.

Please note that if your trash has been picked up and not your recycling (or visa versa) this typically means their combination truck is down and they are using 2 separate trucks (1 for trash and 1 for recycling).

Questions or concerns please contact Casella Waste Systems at (207) 883-9777.

Historical Society Online!

historical society online

In-person programs simply aren’t possible these days—but that opens the door for lots of online opportunities! On Thursday, Feb. 25 at 6 PM, North Yarmouth Historical Society presents “Talkin’ Heads Talkin’ North Yarmouth”! Everybody is invited to join in at a virtual roundtable with local historians to ask questions and get information about anything and everything you’ve wondered about when it comes to town history.  Go to northyarmouthhistorical.org or check our Facebook page for registration information. Also, save March 11 and 18 at 6 PM for an online two-part program “Land Title Research in Maine.”   Become a historical detective as you search for your house or land’s “chain of deed.” Real estate and title lawyer Hugh Maynard will de-mystify the process. Go to NYHS’s website for details, where you’ll also find lots to  explore about town history and NYHS’s collections.

And keep an eye out for the launching of our Old Town House moving and restoration campaign, Moving Into the Future.  2021 promises to be an exciting year!

Interested in trying ice fishing for the first time? Has it been a while since you have set a trap?
free fishing license

Free Fishing License Week, February 13-21, 2021, was created to give everyone a chance to enjoy ice fishing. On these days, any person

(except those whose license has been suspended or revoked) who registers with the Department may fish without a license. All other

laws and regulations apply on these days. Nonresidents and residents may participate.

If you plan to participate in the Free Fishing License Week you must register online. Ages 15 and younger do not need to register.

Interested in learning how to ice fish or what gear you may need? Check out the new Beginner's Guide to Ice Fishing in Maine.

We hope you have a memorable day on the ice! After you go, share your photos with us on Facebook and Instagram for a chance to win

an L.L. Bean gift card and MDIFW swag (details can be found on the Department's Instagram and Facebook pages).

PRESS RELEASES

AUGUSTA - Governor Janet Mills has signed Executive Order 29 FY 20/21, allowing dog owners extra time to license their animals. Owners now have until June 2, 2021, to renew overdue dog licenses. Licenses are available online and pet owners are strongly encouraged to renew license(s) before June 2 to avoid late fees. Veterinarian-administered rabies vaccinations and immunizations are required to be kept current. A rabies certificate is required when applying for a license.

Why was this Executive Order necessary?

  • Dogs traditionally must be vaccinated and registered within their municipalities by the end of the calendar year.
  • At the start of the pandemic, many licensing requirements were temporarily suspended, including dog licensing.
  • With municipalities now operating at near pre-pandemic hours and in the interest of animal health, the licensure requirement has been reinstated.
  • Pet owners with overdue licenses have until June 2, 2021, to renew dog licenses.
  • Learn more about dog licenses, including fees, animal welfare and other important topics by visiting Maine's Dog Licensing Online Purchasing & Renewal webpage.
