Stay Out, Stay Alive!
Recently there has been evidence of people "playing & exploring" in the Town Gravel Pit. Please for your safety STAY OUT and STAY ALIVE.
Exploring or playing at active and abandoned pit sites is dangerous, potentially fatal. Water-filled quarries and pits hide rock ledges, old machinery and other hazards. The water can be deceptively deep and dangerously cold. Hills of loose material can easily collapse on an unsuspecting biker or climber.
The United States Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) oversees all pits, quarries and mine. Only trained personal are allowed in any pit, quarry or mine.

UPDATE on the North Yarmouth Fire Company Museum
A.H. Grover, Inc. has started to grub out the trees for Fire Company Museum yesterday (1-13-2022). They should complete the preliminary earth work by the end of the day today. The street cut on Memorial Highway will happen in the Spring. The sidewalk will remain in place for the Winter, making it safer or pedestrians and for Public Works Department to maintain, since there is no way to safely repair the sidewalk at this time with the current cold temperatures and asphalt plants are closed for the season.
When work is completed by the end of the day tomorrow, it may look like the entrance is going to come off from the parking area near the Garbage-to-Garden kiosk. This is only temporary to allow for future work to take place when we get ready to pour the cement slab. Note - the Garbage-toGarage kiosk will be moved in the Spring, next the the public sand shed at the enterance of the Public Works Facility on Parsonage Road.
