Reduce - Reuse - Recycle

To encourage recycling, North Yarmouth uses the Pay As You Throw (PAYT) trash collection program. Residents pay for waste disposal by purchasing special orange trash bags -  paying only for the trash they produce.

The best way to reduce waste management costs is to recycle

Using split-body trucks, Pine Tree Waste collects trash and recyclables on assigned pick up days. ONLY orange Pay As You Throw bags may be collected. Other trash bags will NOT be collected.

Buy orange PAYT bags (15 and 33 gal.) at:

  • Gray Market Place - Gray
  • Hannaford Bros. - West Falmouth and Yarmouth
  • Shaw's - Falmouth 
  • Town Office

Place all bags and recyclables curbside by 7 am on the day of collection, but no earlier than 7 pm the day before. Protect from animals and inclement weather by using covered containers or sealed plastic bags.

Bulky waste items (furniture-appliances-shingles) may be taken to Freeport Recycling and Riverside Recycling please check their websites for a complete list of acceptable items.
