Deputy Clerk Position Opening

This is a full-time, responsible, and varied clerical position, serving as both the Deputy Town Clerk and Excise Tax Collection Agent, reporting directly to the Assistant Town Manager (Town Clerk).  The employee is responsible for receiving and recording funds for the collection of various excise taxes and fees generated through the registration of automobiles, boats, and other vehicles.  The Deputy Town Clerk will also collect and process real estate taxes, as well as be responsible for the account’s payables process for the Town. This position will assist the Town Clerk with activities such as elections, voter registration, cemeteries, issuing of vital records and license.  The Deputy Clerk will assume the Town Clerk’s duties in the Clerk’s absence.  This position has considerable interaction, in person, via email and over the telephone with citizens requiring excellent customer service skills. Municipal experience and knowledge of TRIO municipal software desired.
