Also, Thaddeus Day has arranged for Holly Hurd to provide an interesting talk at the beginning of the meeting.

North Yarmouth’s Role in WWII Shipbuilding

Holly Hurd, Curator & Collections Manager at Freeport Historical Society, will give an illustrated talk about wood harvesting by Knight’s Mill in North Yarmouth for the building of Red Oak barges in Freeport. The U.S. Government commissioned Casco Shipbuilding Company to build five barges to carry supplies during the war since they could not be detected by magnetic mines. Wood for the Red Oaks was cut and hauled by Philip Knight at Crockett’s Corner in East North Yarmouth

Membership Dues for the upcoming year is due on June 1st. Please plan to come and join us! This would be a good opportunity to come and learn about what we have done at the Park and what our plans will be for the upcoming year.
