Marriage Intentions:

"Residents of the State intending to be joined in marriage shall record notice of their intentions in the office of the clerk of the municipality in which at least one of them resides." The bride and groom must fill out an Intention of Marriage Form and a Record of Social Security Numbers. This license is valid in any community in Maine for a period of 90 days from the date the intentions are filed.

Non-Maine residents must file their Notice of Intentions in any municipal office. The license is valid in any community within the State of Maine for a period of 90 days from the date the intentions are filed. An affidavit stating that the person living out of state is not prohibited from marrying in their state of residence must be completed at the time of application.

If either the bride or groom has been previously married, a certified copy of the death or divorce decree must be presented to the clerk.

The cost of the marriage license is $40.00. Certified copies of the completed license may be obtained from the clerk for a fee of $15.00 for one copy and $6.00 for each additional copy.

Birth/Death Certificates:

Certified copies of birth certificates of residents born in or whose parents were living in North Yarmouth at the time of birth may be obtained from the clerk for a fee of $15.00 for one copy and $6.00 for each additional copy.

The same applies to death certificates of any person who dies in North Yarmouth or who dies elsewhere but was a resident of North Yarmouth at the time of death.
